Genesis 20 and 21:22-34 present two encounters with Abimelech which provide bookends to bring focus to the crucial narrative in the middle. The events with Abraham & Sarah and Isaac & Ishmael are dramatic and instructive. The faithfulness of God and the Grace of God are on full display. But it is not always pretty. (Not God’s fault)
