The NT word for kindness is chrestos. As a fruit of the Spirit, it is "goodness in action, sweetness of disposition, gentleness dealing with others, benevolence, kindness, affability." It is the Holy Spirit who prompts you to be kind to your family members, neighbors, coworkers, and others that you come into contact with. We are to be know as chrestos people, those who are routinely kind to those around us. In Jesus' parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-35) he points out a number of characteristics of kindness.
