Self-control is the ninth fruit of the Spirit, showing us the path to victory over the works of the flesh. Self-control is the ability to regulate what I think, feel and do. Derek Prime said, "Self is one of the toughest weeds that grows in the garden of God." When we think in terms of the weed of self, we are desperately in need of the work of the Holy Spirit in us for self-control. This morning we will look at how we can lead ourselves, exercising control over our desires. "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)
